Umair Ahmad Khawaja is a documentary film maker from Lahore, Pakistan, with a Bachelors majoring in Film & TV production, from National College of Arts, Lahore. Mr. Khawaja presents an alternative narrative through his documentaries focusing on Socio-cultural issues of the region. His major works includes renaming of historical places of Lahore, and Public History Project of Pakistan—giving an alternative narrative to the historical events of the country. He derives his inspiration from the diverse ethnic-composition of region, and multi-cultural fabric of country, with a desire of portraying cultural and ethnic values his nation represents.
This film is a documentation of the lesser known minority of Pakistani society. It is the story
of Sikh roots in this country. While the documentary is meant to introduce their religious
places as well as their historic value, it is also an illustration of the peace, harmony and
brotherhood within a misinterpreted society. While a lot of documentaries are out there
that signify the beauty and history of Pakistan, very few challenge the popular view of its
people around the globe. This documentary is set apart by mainstream media by showing
the coexistence of a religious minority and the Muslim majority; a true depiction of
harmony among Pakistani people.
